Interpreting services built around people, not assignments.
SIA provides ASL interpreting services. We learn what you need and look for an interpreter who is a good fit. We also consider the type of appointment, your preferences, and the interpreter’s experience.
For every request, SIA looks at what the appointment needs, who will be there, your preferences, and the interpreter’s experience.

Different by design
A different kind of interpreting agency.
SIA grew from firsthand experience with both interpreting and agency operations.
Ashley saw how decisions about matching, preparation, communication, and follow-through could either support an assignment or create unnecessary barriers. SIA was built to make those decisions more intentionally.
SIA was built to work differently.
From whoever is availableto a good fit
From one appointment at a timeto remembering what works
A better experience starts with listening to everyone involved.
01Deaf Consumers
More choice. Clear information. Better matches.
Deaf people should know what is happening and be able to tell SIA what works for them. You can share preferences, see who is assigned, name interpreters you want again, and give feedback.
Interpreting should work better for everyone involved.
SIA facilitates communication through skilled ASL interpreting. Deaf people have a voice in the process. Interpreters get the information and support they need. Clients know what is happening. We build each relationship with care.
The goal is simple: make it easier for people to understand the process, trust SIA, and tell us how to improve.
Ashley Stough is a nationally certified ASL/English interpreter with experience across healthcare, education, rehabilitation, and community settings. Her work as both an interpreter and within agency systems gave her a close view of the decisions that shape the quality of an interpreting experience long before an assignment begins.
That perspective became the foundation for Stough Interpreting Agency. SIA was designed around thoughtful matching, strong preparation, clear communication, respect for interpreter expertise, and meaningful input from Deaf consumers.
Rather than treating each assignment as an isolated transaction, the agency uses what it learns to strengthen future coordination and build more effective working relationships over time.
Interpreting services shaped around the assignment.
SIA learns what the appointment needs. Then we look for an interpreter who is a good fit. We consider the type of appointment, who will be there, and what the interpreter needs to prepare.
SIA is still confirming which services and locations will be available.
